We introduced the word Pre-Order to the UK some years
back now when we were looking for a word to fit the top column of our
Corgi price lists.
At the time, everyone just sold at a price, but we
felt it fairer to offer a discount to those who advance ordered.
Advance Order Price didn't fit our lists, so we tried Pre-Order which did. It's a meaningless word, in fact a Pre-Order is a mathematical method, but we used it as a shortened version of Pre-Release-Order...
We then used this word in advertisements in Model
Collector magazine, the idea was copied by some of our competitors and the
buzzword spread throughout the media business... Three Mobile Phones
then used the word when they launched their video phones in the UK, and
since then it's absolutely everywhere!
And the point of this history lesson?
Well, two things - careful what meaningless
words you make up, as they can become part of everyday speech really
quickly!
And secondly, and most importantly:
If you put anything in your basket that says
PRE-ORDER in the description, it's not yet been released!
Be careful what payment method you choose,
since we would rather NOT charge you until the product actually releases.
Suitable Payment Methods: Phone Me,
Collect In Store, Details From Before and Credit Card (Charge Later).
Unsuitable Payment Methods - unless you want to pre-pay for your
pre-order: Paypal, HSBC Secure Payments, Credit Card (Pay Now) - Payflow Credit Card
Processing.
